Susane Gilbert
North Branch Construction LLC
"Start your journey in construction by building a solid foundation-whether through a technical school, certificate program, or hands-on experience. Once you have built this essential base of knowledge, seek out a company that fosters professional growth and development, where you can collaborate with experienced mentors-both men and women- who will guide you along the way. Advancing in this industry requires hard work, but each step forward strengthens your skills and resilience. Most importantly, share your successes. By doing so, you empower other women to achieve their own ambitions in the field."
Susane Gilbert grew up immersed in construction, whether it was her father building or remodeling their family home, or her brother running a construction business of his own. This background ignited her curiosity about building design and its purpose.
Susane began her career with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and an Associate Degree in Architecture, which led to her first role as a CAD designer for a design-build contractor. She then advanced to an architectural designer at an award-winning firm, where she discovered her passion for project management. To enhance her skills, Susane pursued a Graduate Certificate in Project Management and worked her way up from assistant project manager to a senior project manager over an 18-year tenure, overseeing the construction of high-end homes in NH and MA. Recognizing the importance of financial acumen in the construction industry, she later earned an Associate Degree in Accounting to strengthen her understanding of the numbers behind each project.
The most fulfilling part of her career is hands-on learning and team- work, where both successes and challenges drive growth. Susane highly values being a part of work that makes a meaningful difference to New Hampshire communities.
Since joining North Branch Construction in 2022, Susane has had the privilege of working with talented professionals who have significantly shaped her journey as a project manager. In January, she became NBC's first female principal, and she is committed to ensuring that women within the company recognize their value and potential in our industry.
In March 2025, Susane decided to join NAWIC in order to collaborate with other strong and influential women who are dedicated to advancing opportunities for women in NH's construction industry. Susane noted, "although this industry has traditionally been male- dominated, more and more women are joining the ranks. Our collective strength and unity are essential as we continue to drive meaningful changes within the field."
Susane resides in Concord, NH, with her husband of 25 years. She has three sons and two dogs. She loves going on adventures with her husband, exploring new places, and trying new experiences. Recently, she took up golf and has been enjoying the camaraderie and fun of the game with colleagues and friends.
