Meghan Theriault
Gilford Department of Public Works
“Put yourself out there and get involved in groups, committees or at meetings. Networking is so helpful both personally and professionally to develop a great resource of colleagues that you can reach out to when you need a good sounding board. Being involved in the industry can be very rewarding and helps expose us to new experiences.”
After graduating from UNH with a degree in civil engineering, Meghan started her career working for two private engineering consultants and then quickly moved over to the municipal sector after falling in love with construction and field work. She was a Town Engineer for 13 years and a Public Works Director for the last five years. She is responsible for the highway, solid waste, sewer, building and grounds, and fleet divisions at Gilford Public Works. Meghan is very passionate about all things recycling and recently Gilford became the 1st NH community to collect and recycle foam (plastic #6). She is also very active in promoting and exposing students of all ages to the construction industry.
Meghan joined NAWIC in 2010 to meet women who are as proud to be in the construction industry as she is. She has developed many great lasting relationships and is enthusiastic about engaging the next generation through her chapters’ community events. Whether it be a WIC Week Block Kids event with an elementary school or the annual NH Construction Career Days event with over 1,000 high school students, exposing the next generation to the construction industry is an extremely rewarding experience. Meghan also enjoys being a mentor on her son’s high school robotics team, the Lakerbots, who compete in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition.
Meghan lives in the lakes region town of Meredith, NH. She and her husband, two boys, and father-in-law enjoy homesteading on their 15 acre property with many flower and vegetable gardens, fruit trees and blueberry bushes. They also tap and boil maple syrup in their small sugar shack. Their family loves camping, RVing and ATVing all across New England as well.
